The Houston ENA Chapter is affiliated with the National Emergency Nurses Association
to implement its philosophy, objectives, and leadership at the Chapter Level,
to coordinate the professional activities of members within the Houston Metropolitan area in liaison with the Texas Emergency Nurses Association (TENA) and the National Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
Objectives of the Houston Chapter of ENA
- promote standards of emergency nursing practice, nursing education and nursing services as defined by the ENA and TENA
- Provide for the continuing professional development of emergency nurses
- serve as a vehicle for dissemination of information relevant to emergency nursing
- promote research in emergency nursing and encourage the use of evidence based practice as a basis for emergency nursing
- provide educational opportunities to members
- maintain communication with members
- assume an active role as patient advocate
- represent emergency nurses and serve as their spokesperson with healthcare professionals, community, governmental groups and the public
- work in collaboration with TENA legislative issues affecting emergency care and emergency nursing practice as presented at the Texas State Meeting
- promote the Emergency Nursing profession
